Upcoming Service Modules

The SmartCare team is developing a number of new service modules...

Inventory Module

The Inventory module will be used for pharmacy store management. It will mainly capture: commodity "receipts", "losses and adjustments" (plus or minus), "compute running totals" of "dispensed drugs", "calculate stock balances". It will also use these variables in conjunction with 3 months' "average monthly consumption" and the set "maximum months of stock" and "minimum months of stock" for flagging alerts on stock levels.

Drug Dispensing Module

The Drug Dispensing module will mainly manage ARV daily activity register (DAR). The data from the DAR will assist in completing reports in the stock control component and will feed into other reports.

Family Planning Module

The Family planning module will assist individuals and couples in implementing voluntary decisions about fertility; when to have children and the appropriate number to have. It will include features that track whether or not the client has been adequately informed, as well as having access to safe, effective, affordable, acceptable and legal methods of fertility regulation.  It will also include a section on health care for safe pregnancy and childbirth.

Under Five Module

The Under Five module will collect clinical care data including immunization, PMTCT and the growth chart of children under the age of five after postnatal care.  Young children are an especially vulnerable population.  With a vigorous campaign to promote safe pregnancy and protection against malaria, Zambia has seen a 30% drop in under five mortality rates in the past seven years.  Part of SmartCare's mission is to provide timely feedback and accurate reporting on the effectiveness of government health policies.

Out Patient Department (OPD) Module

The Out Patient Department (OPD) module will track patient interactions within all the various clinics under a facility's broader Out Patient Department.  For example, a single OPD might run a general clinic, an under five clinic, an antenatal clinic, a hypertensive clinic and a chest clinic.  One of SmartCare's great strengths is the ability to link and cross-reference a single patient's treatments among many facilities, providing total continuity of care.
